Laptop Shipping & Set up FAQs
When will my laptop be shipped?
- Laptops get shipped out via UPS 2-Day delivery one week prior to your start date. A signature is required.
- You will receive the UPS tracking number from our 3rd party vendor, Connection, once your equipment ships. If you miss your delivery, UPS will make another attempt the next business day.
- If there are any shipping delays, our IT Onbaording Team will notify you.
Can I pick up my laptop in person instead of having it shipped to me?
Unfortunately we are not able to coordinate laptop pickups in office. If you need an accommodation, please connect with your Recruiting Coordinator to identify an alternative solution.
Only select Operations training classes will pick up their devices onsite.
I need to change my shipping address, what do I do?
- If you need to change your shipping address, please contact your Recruiting Coordinator ASAP.
The shipping address for my laptop is not the same as my everyday address, is that okay?
Yes, that’s fine as long as an adult 18 years or older is there to sign for your package upon delivery.
I won’t be there for my delivery, can I have someone else sign for me?
Yes, anyone 18 years or older can sign for the package.
I received a PC instead of a Mac (or vice versa), can I get a different laptop?
- Your Hiring Manager submits request for your equipment based on your role and function.
- If it makes sense for your role, changes can be made to equipment if needed after your start date. Please reach out to onboarding-all@sofi.org and our team will assist you.
How does IT contact me to get my laptop set up?
- You will receive an email to your personal inbox with links to step-by-step Computer Setup Guides & an invitation to Optional New Hire IT Drop In Session scheduled for the morning of your start date.
- Callout: The invite for Optional IT Office hours will be sent the Friday before your start date.
Equipment FAQs
Operations/Agents ONLY: Does my monitor, keyboard, mouse, laptop etc. come all together?
- If joining Day 1 Onsite, you will receive your laptop in office and all other equipment will be shipped to the laptop shipping address you provided.
- If joining remotely, your laptop will ship separate from your other work equipment. You will receive a tracking number for each package.
- Callout: Only laptop shipments require a signature.
Do I get a cell phone?
- Our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy allows only certain positions to access company-issued applications from a personal device.
- If you are unsure if this applies to you, please reach out to your hiring manager if you have any further questions.
What work from home equipment do I get?
This varies depending on your role:
- Customer facing agents can expect delivery of home office agent equipment after their first week of training. Your trainer will provide details upon hire.
- Home Loans employees can expect delivery of home office agent equipment by the end of their first week.
- Full-time remote employees can request home office equipment once they start via the IT ticketing system, SoFi Compass. Requests may include up to 2 monitors, a single keyboard and mouse. Headsets are only provided to customer facing agents and Home Loans employees.
- All other employees, including hybrid office workers, are ineligible for home office equipment. Employees will either have assigned seating in their local office or able to use open seating. Your reporting manager will provide further details.
Background Checks, Visas, Fingerprinting FAQs
I haven’t been asked to complete a background check. Is this required?
- Background checks are initiated 4 weeks prior to your start date due to company compliance requirements. Keep an eye out for an email from First Advantage.
- Callout: If you have been employed by SoFi Technologies in the past and are a "rehire", you need to complete a new background check prior to your start date.
What is the status of my background check?
- Reach out to our Talent Acquisition team at TAOps@sofi.org for any background check-related questions.
